Incredible images of the devastation of WW1.
World War One wasteland: Haunting rare images show apocalyptic destruction on the Western Front | Mail Online.
Devastating…I’m in the middle of reading a WWI chaplain’s autobiography. It helps give an idea of the true horror endured by the poor people caught up in that war.
Sounds interesting, what’s the title? What’s his nationality?
He was a Canadian by the name of Frederick George Scott. The book is “The Great War as I Saw It”. Here’s the free download on Project Gutenberg: http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/19857
Heh thanks J.G. I’ll pick it up. Free is good.
I’m listening to John Ramsden’s “The Great War and the World It Made” and it’s amazing that every single soldier in that conflict didn’t suffer from some form of post-traumatic stress disorder. I don’t think we today fully understand how awful it was for them.
So true. Thanks for stopping by.
